Bournemouth Colts

At Colts level, we will be running 12 teams; two at some age groups. These run from Under 8 Softball to Under 16. Bournemouth Colts teams play in the East Dorset League and we enter teams at U13 and U15 into the Blackmore Vale National Club Championship, the Portman Cup and the U19 T20 knockout competition.

Our Colts teams and training are overseen by our Colts Coordinator Mark Smith who is a level 2 coach. Our Club Coach is Neil Pack who is a very experienced level 2.5 coach. We also have Steve Bishopp another very experienced county and district coach and again another level 2.5 coach. Rob Pack is a level 2 coach and a member of our 1st XI and is one of the best spin bowlers in the County. James Palmer is a level 2 coach and a fast bowler in our 2nd XI team. Luke Matthews is a level 2 coach and specialises in wicket keeping. All our coaches can provide one to one coaching if you would like extra training. Our academy training sessions also benefit from the major county coaching experience of Richard Scott, who is a level 4 coach. To assist our coaches we have many other coach support workers and assistant coaches. All our coaches are vetted and hold current DBS certificates.

The Club's Colts teams have enjoyed much success in recent years which was capped in 2010 when our Colts won the Dorset Cup at Under 13 and Under 15, the first time this has happened in the history of BCC. In the indoors leagues this season we have had division winners and runners up at many age groups. Our U19 team won the Hampshire ECB T20 Knockout competition in 2016 and were third in 2017. Our colts teams continue to grow in strength and have won cup and leagues at many ages in 2018/19.

We are very much a community based cricket club and are running chance to shine cricket in Parkfield School. We have whole heartedly endorsed the running of our All Star Programme and will be running it again this year for 5 to 9 year olds from the 10th of May 2019 for 8 weeks. Our club coach Neil Pack will be supervising these sessions and he will be assisted by two of our young coaching assistants Victoria Pack and Harry Shivas.

We now have many colts playing District and County Representative Cricket and several in Dorset Development Squads. We also have girls playing at County level. We now can offer girls ladies cricket from the age of 13 years in our softball side or our hardball team Chapel Gate Ladies.

Our colts play and train outside in the summer season and continue to play matches and train indoors, during the winter at Hurn Indoor Cricket Center.

In 2015 The Bournemouth Academy was introduced for our District and County players. This is run fortnightly during the summer and winter. These sessions are small ratio colts to coach sessions and run by Neil Pack, Mark Smith, Steve Bishopp, Rob Pack and Richard Scott. The standard of coaching in the academy is second to none in the county. Players are invited to attend the academy and are chosen for their commitment, potential and ability.

We effectively manage the intergration of our older colts into adult cricket from the age of 13 years, depending on ability using our two lower teams in the adult leagues and our 2nd XI side midweek who are in division 3 of the Wimborne League.
